A Daughters PledgePage
Hello, my name is Candice and I am writing on behalf of my dad , Raymond, he is 58 years old and resides in Texas, he and my mom have been married for 22 years and have 5 children and 11 grandchildren, my dad owns his own business and worked really hard for many years…
In 1999 my dad was having severe headaches and went to the dr. after having test ran we found out that he had a aneurysm between the basil arteries in his brain, we saw several dr’s and top neurosurgeons to see what kind of treatment could be provided, unfortunately, at that time there was nothing that could be done to remove it without major complications so we were advised to wait. On Sept 14, 2003 my dad fell out of bed and shattered his hip, we took him to Baylor Hosp and they did a routine hip replacement surgery, he remained in the hospital for 2 weeks’ and was released to go home….Once he was at home about 2 weeks after the surgery, we noticed a huge knot in the left side of his neck which we knew needed immediate treatment because it showed up so fast and was never there before. After more test were ran we found out that he was diagnosed with stage 4 Renal cell carcinoma which had started out in his kidney and metastasized to his neck region, so on Jan 2004 he was again admitted to Baylor to have a kidney removed. Then he had surgery scheduled again for Feb to have the knot in his neck removed, which was a long 7 hour surgery. He suffered this time really bad and had a lot of complications in ICU while trying to recover, this surgery left him with a lot of nerve damage to his left side and he also had to have 2 ribs taken out…From this point on it was a lot rougher because this kept him from working due to the fact his left side was so weak… He went through severe chemotherapy treatments in April, May and June in which he would be admitted into the hosp. for 5 day’s a month to receive. He has never really fully recovered and my mom had to quit my job to take care of him. The next few month’s we would get tested to make sure the cancer hadn’t came back and with all the prayers to this day it fortunately hasn’t. But, we noticed about 2 months ago instead of him getting healthier, he was getting worse, loosing his balance and falling down when he would walk, we knew something had to be wrong so back to the dr. they went and this time we found out that his aneurysm had grown to 3 centimeters and he was admitted in the hospital the same day.. His dr is one of the top neurosurgeons in the world and said he would need immediate brain surgery to bypass his blood flow to his brain and reroute it so it’s not flowing into the aneurysm . We had no choice but to have this done or it would of ruptured. So on Thursday he had his surgery which lasted 10 hours, only to find out the following day the bypass did not work and would have to be done again.. The problem is he does not have enough strength at this time to go through that again because they have not even been able to wean him off the breathing tube…The Dr. has told us the second time around will be a lot riskier and all we do is stay in his room to let him know we are there.. We are not sure yet if there has been any damage to his brain yet and won’t know until he can get off the breathing tube and try to talk. Also since his surgery while on breathing assistance my dad has had a blood clot in his leg which he again was rushed to surgery and he has developed pneumonia from having to be re incubated 3 times, he is also scheduled for a tracheotomy on Friday 2-11-05. I know my dad has so many people praying for him and his poor body has been through so much within this past year We kid’s have tried to help out “financially” as much as we can but are unable to pay for all the medical bills and with basic living cost, we are just asking for any help trying to meet our parents basic need’s for daily living my dad is so remarkable and to know that all he has been through is enough to worry about without having to worry about loosing their home, vehicle, ect…He is the most amazing man in the world and to see him suffer through this knowing there is only so much financially we children can to help us is traumatizing to all of us . Any help would be GREATLY appreciated s Thank you for your time in reading this and please contact me if there’s anything you can help do, or recommend. He is my hero because he has been so fortunate to hang on and fight for his life. My dad has been in Zale Lipshy University Hosp, since Jan 7, 2005 In the Intensive Care Unit…Thank you Candice Anderson or e-mail cja0525@yahoo.com, we have an account with paypal so please e-mail me thank you so much |
